Bron-yr-Aur is the cottage in Wales where Jimmy Page and Robert Plant wrote much of Led Zeppelin III in after a grueling US tour. The cottage had no electricity or running water, but the change of scenery provided inspiration for many songs on the album.

Led Zeppelin III's original vinyl edition was packaged in a gatefold sleeve with an innovative cover, designed by Zacron, a multi-media artist whom Page had met in whilst Zacron was a student at Kingston College of Art. Zacron subsequently graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts and became a lecturer at the University of thoughricktipharledahardpenkniphylnajor.coinfo asked him if he would help design a sleeve for the album.

It was supposed to be spelt Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp but the 'r' was left out. The band decided to leave it how it was. It is spelt correctly on the Led Zeppelin DVD's back cover.

This song was written in during Led Zeppelin’s occupation of the secluded cottage of Bron-Y-Aur in Gwynedd, Wales; a holiday home owned by a friend of Plant’s family.
